CNLBank South Florida Appointments

Lynne Wines, chief executive officer of CNLBank's South Florida division, has announced the following appointments.
Arthur L. Bigelow has joined CNLBank's South Florida division as senior vice president. In his new position, Bigelow will be responsible for originating and closing commercial real estate loans, developing new account relationships and assisting with the strategic growth of CNLBank in Broward County. Bigelow, a 30 year banking industry veteran, previously served in executive roles with BankUnited, BankAtlantic and Barnett Bank, where he was recognized as a top relationship manager. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Dayton and a Master's degree from the University of Cincinnati. A 48 year resident of Ft. Lauderdale Florida, Bigelow is well-known as a community leader and actively serves as a member of the National Association of Industrial and Office Parks, the International Council of Shopping Centers and is a member of the Broward County YMCA Board of Directors. His office is located in Ft. Lauderdale.

Bernardo Iglesias has joined CNLBank as vice president, banking office manager of the Coral Gables office. With over 23 years of banking experience, Iglesias brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to CNLBank. Iglesias previously served in executive roles with Ocean Bank, BankAtlantic, Bank of North America and Bank M. He received a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Mercy College and serves on the boards for the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce, the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce and the March of Dimes. His office is located at One Alhambra Plaza in Coral Gables.

Juan Babani has joined CNLBank as vice president, commercial relationship manager at the Coral Gables office. Babani has over 13 years of experience in the banking industry, most recently serving as senior business lending officer for Colonial Bank. Prior to Colonial Bank, he held various positions with Beach Bank, SouthTrust Bank and NationsBank. His office is located at One Alhambra Plaza in Coral Gables.

FBR Capital Markets Corporation Appointments

FBR Capital Markets Corporation (NASDAQ:FBCM) (FBR Capital Markets), a leading investment bank serving the middle market, announced today that its new Convertible Securities unit has commenced trading convertible and equity-linked securities. The firm also announced the addition of Robert Meringolo and Thomas Sugiura as Managing Directors, Adam Wachter and John Wright as Senior Vice Presidents, and Charles Ng and Ronald K. Schulhof as Vice Presidents on the Convertible Securities Sales & Trading team. They will report to Michael Lloyd, Senior Managing Director and Head of Convertible Securities in Sales & Trading, who co-heads the unit with Paul S. Rosica, Senior Managing Director and Head of Equity- Linked Securities in Investment Banking.

"Today we officially launched our Convertible Securities platform and have begun trading equity-linked securities," said Richard J. Hendrix, President and Chief Operating Officer of FBR Capital Markets. "The addition of the Convertible Securities unit to our equity capital markets franchise is an important step in the evolution and growth of FBR Capital Markets. This new business will provide clients access to additional capital options and will complement our existing business lines."

Mr. Sugiura also joins FBR Capital Markets from Bear Stearns where he, too, served as a Senior Managing Director on its Convertible Securities trading team. During his time at Bear Stearns, Mr. Sugiura made markets in a variety of convertible instruments and managed a structured convertible book which included client-facing synthetic convertible issuance. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Harvard University in English and American literature and language and received an MBA from the Yale School of Management.
Mr. Wachter joins the FBR Capital Markets Convertible Securities unit most recently from Morgan Stanley, where he spent seven years in various senior trading positions in both customer- facing and principal businesses. Prior to Morgan Stanley, he was a convertible trader at Kennilworth Partners, an equity-linked hedge fund. Mr. Wachter received a Bachelor of Arts in finance from The George Washington University and an MBA from the Fordham University Graduate School of Business Administration.

Financiera Indpendencia CFO Appointed

Financiera Independencia, S.A.B. de C.V., SOFOM, E.N.R. (BMV: FINDEP), (Independencia) a Mexican microfinance lender of personal loans to lower income segment individuals, today announced that it has appointed Mr. Didier Mena Campos as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) effective as of September 1, 2008. Mr. Mena will replace Mr. Juan Garcia Madrigal, who is leaving to pursue personal and professional endeavors.

Commenting on this management change, Mr. Noel Gonzalez, Chief Executive Officer of Financiera Independencia, said: "I am delighted to welcome Didier as our CFO. His 14 years of experience dealing with financial institutions in Mexico and Latin America in investment banking and financial planning are an important addition to our management team. Prior to joining Financiera Independencia, Mr. Mena was Managing Director at Credit Suisse where he was co-responsible of investment banking for Central America and certain financial institutions in Mexico. Mr. Mena joined Credit Suisse in 2001 and participated in relevant transactions in Mexico and Latin America including, among others: Financiera Independencia's IPO, Compartamos' IPO, Banorte's issuance of capital securities (2006), Bital's sale to HSBC, Colpatria's strategic partnership with GE Money, Bancolombia's mergers with Conavi and Corfinsura and BAC Credomatic's strategic partnership with GE Money. Prior to joining Credit Suisse, he spent six years in BBVA Bancomer where his last two positions were as Deputy Director of the Asset and Liabilities Committee and Deputy Director of Financial Planning as part of the CFO team. He also participated in key transactions such as: Bancomer's minority sale to BBVA.
