Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS) , an international communications and information technology company, has been added to the S&P 500 Index effective at the close of trading September 19, 2008.

Lance, chairman, president and CEO. "Being added to the index acknowledges the company's track record of sustained growth during the past five years, the strategies that helped create these positive results, and the dedication of the more than 16,500 Harris employees who helped make it happen."
